Making a forest bonsai.

This is the start of my forest i am yet to get the other 3 trees for it. I forgot the names of the trees but they will sit around the back of it and be a little taller and straight like a juniper forest. I am going to make 2 forest setups. The tree I bought yesterday will be for a completely different one.
The pot i got today at rocklea market's for $20. I was wondering when planting if the pot is a little too deep. What do you guys think?

I don't think the depth of the pot is a problem. In fact it's probably a benefit as it will allow a but more growth than a shallower pot.

Usually we plant all trees at the same time to minimise the disturbance to the roots.
Get all the trees and materials together, and the pot up and arrange the setting in one session.
Have a plan like Jimbo showed us in his post and then execute it. Creating forest is not just chucking a few trees in a pot and hoping

Also it is usual to have an odd number of trees in a forest planting to make it look better as with even numbers for some reason look unbalanced.

I know it wasn't wise to do it now. But I had to do it around my husband being very sick. The second one will just be one tree planted in the pot with cuttings. If it doesn't look good with the different trees I will change it.

I'm not sure I completely have this right, but generally a forest group uses trees from the same species and I'm not sure this is what you have in mind. The main reason for this is that different species in one pot require different degrees of sun, water, fert etc.. and that is not an easy thing to manage. Stick with the tridents in that pot and use different trees to make a different forest in a different pot ( )... just my , you can make up your own mind... Good luck!
