You can also buy Kaneshin via japanese sellers on Ebay. Prices comparable to factory but you need to be specific about which model i.e. model number as there can be communication problems. I just got a pair of Ryuga branch splitters from a German seĺler which are very nice for $100 AUD cheaper ($67) than Kaneshin tool. My logic was that keeping a critical sharp edge on a branch splitter isn't imo as important as sharp branch cutters etc.

Consider a pair of Concave branchcutters as they will do a simliar job but are much more versatile than knobcutters.

Vegetable oil is the best for keeping the trees healthy. Other types of oil can make your trees sick.

Ummmm, I have no idea. I just went into the supermarket and grabbed a no-name "Vegetable Oil"

It does not matter whether it is sunflower, vegetable, olive or peanut oil. In fact I don't seem to have any problems with non vegetable oils. I spray my tools with CRC or equivalent and when I've used the chainsaw when collecting and carving large trunks the chain and bar oil does not seem to have any adverse affects on those trees either.
Maybe if you get oil all over the leaves it could cause damage but I don't think most oils have any effect on living wood.

I find citronella is good.
Just me..I soak over night and let dry for a day then put in oven and heat the up for an hour or so.
That's real citronella without the added hydrocarbon volume.
