So it looks to be coming along fine. Right now there are buds galore and some new shoots.

Only question I have is should I cut the smaller trunks out now and try and redirect some of the energy to the larger trunks or would it be best to let it go?

I normally leave transplants to grow freely for most of a season to get the new roots going well.
If it is growing strongly by midsummer you might consider removing some redundant branching then.

Patience is important when dealing with living things and bonsai in particular.

Yeah that was my plan originally but seeing all the buds got me all excited. :D

Makes sense though, I'm just happy it seems to be doing well.

Hello Starfox,

Well done mate.
Self gratification - a great feeling.

I agree with Neil too.

Any photos of your previous plantings posted when delivered?

How's the puppy going?

Kevin

Hi Kevin,

Cheers, certainly good to know I have done something right.

I will leave it then, as much as it is going crazy with buds and shoots there is still none in some areas where I'dlike some so hopefully given time they will come too. The roots took a fair hit so letting them develop is for the best.

Do you mean the bunch of Aussie natives I posted pics of?
Some of them have really struggled, others less so and I have one Grevillea that has done well and one Grevillea which may be gone. The Callies and Mels mainly all looked like they were dying off, they turned mainly a copper/white colour. My guess is chlorosis due to compact soil however they are starting to spout loads of new green stuff and are coming back so I'm happy there but everything doesn't seem to like the ground here. PH is good though so maybe next time I dig bigger holes first and see if that helps.

The puppy is doing very well, he just about has us trained now. :D

He has a thing for stripping the bark off of sticks and hates birds but cats he still has no idea about.

Seems to have pulled through summer well enough.

It could be thirsty or it could be over watered, the soil is mainly hard compacted stuff it was dug from so I have had a little issue with watering this summer.
Thinking of putting some wetting agent on the soil, that should help.

Can you submerge the pot completely under water for a hour or two? In a sink or tub maybe? Sooner or later the water will penetrate the soil.

It may just fit in the bath tub, chuck the kids in with it and it should pick up some organics too. :D

I think it is on the right track now, it's growth stalled for a bit and turned all purplish which is a sign of lack of phosphorus I believe so I changed the feed to a tomato feed with high P and in the last month or so has bloomed and the green is returning. It could just be it recovering from that too.
