The water should evaporate out itself unless the entire tank is sealed. In which case waterong would be unnecessary

Re: My new tropical setup
you can technically use any light but mine is a grow light that are used for aquascaping as i got it for free on a hard rubbish weekend lol
my tank is sealed and every few weeks or so i empty out what the water u could definitely use a pump but as i dont have a heat mat setup it doesnt evaporate or get hot so theres an issue of over watering which im still getting the kinks out of but i use the fogger once a week and it seems to do the trick i can plant seeds anytime of year and they grow super fast i just did a heap of fig seed varieties which i bought of ebay and in less than a week i have heaps coming out of the soil its crazy how quick it works
the main thing that i have worked out is you need to get the reflective surface for around the tank to make sure the light get to all the plants

Re: My new tropical setup
also with the excess water i tried using large gravel at the bottom of the tank but it was just a nightmare the excess water sat stagnant for ages in the bottom of the tank and caused mould to grow and actually killed a 30 year old fig i was developing aerial roots on so emptying the water every few weeks is just the best way to aviod any issues

Re: My new tropical setup
I like the setup and innovation. You could drill a hole in the tank bottom to rid the excess water. Have it go into a reservoir for collection or re pumping back onto the trees like a hydroponic system would using drippers. I built a fish tank biofilter system with weir and had all the holes drilled at my local aquarium shop for cheap.

Re: My new tropical setup
it woulod be a good idea but i dont wanna destroy the tank as one day it will be turned into an aquascape so everything i do to it has to be temporary
