Neither work for me :?

I'm using Tapatalk on my Samsung Galaxy. I'll try the computer later. I had a look back through this thread and every photo you've posted is coming up broken for me.

Cheers,
Pearcy.

Hello,

I can see the image - presuming you only loaded one image.
The cedrus is progressing well.
Good work.

Kevin

P.S. - I can now see 2 images

Thank you, Kevin.

I guess I'll be uploading images directly onto this site from now on. Thank you for the heads up!

Can see it now! Great work mate. How long did it take to lay all that Moss?

Cheers,

Thanks Kirky,

It's planted on a nylon slab (cut from a heavy duty nylon chopping board) like Michael Hagedorn does:

https://crataegus.com/2012/03/31/mounta ... lon-board/

I made 'feet' for the board with the plugs I drilled out of the board using a hole-saw. You can easily stick them back onto the board with a blow-torch.

Pearcy,

It took ages. No idea how long, but probably a day's worth. Had to make a trip back to my 'moss spot' to get more. Shame most of it is the one species, but hey, beggars can't be choosers. Who would have thought good moss would be hard to find along the coast of the world's second driest continent....

I am a fan of cedars and I have a few. For what it is worth my advice is:
1 - Do not over-work them
2 - If you prune in one season, give it a couple of seasons before you do any work on the roots
3 - If you possibly can, wire with copper
4 - The advantage with copper is that you can generally leave the wire on for a longer period of time
5 - Pinch out the growing tips in October (that might be September for you)
6 - Be generous with the fertilizer, not over generous but have a program in place
7 - They take some time to set into new positions so sometimes it is advisable to use guy wires
8 - Don't listen to people who bag them, and just love them!!!!

Both pics work for me. That's looking good. Just a note of caution keep an eye on the wire as mine cut in just about three months as they put on growth very quickly. And the scarring is still not healed! I guess at least three years before the scar disappears.

Thanks, Watto and Akhi.

I'll keep all your advice in mind. I have been keeping an eagle eye on the wire. Thankfully, the primary branching seems to have set already (in most cases). Unfortunately, I did not wait two years from pruning before repotting, but it was pretty horrifically root bound... Hopefully it doesn't die or freak out touch.

Cheers!

Owen

P.S. I do love this thing! One of my favourites.
