Sir Theodore - nice benches! I haven't seen that idea of having the supports only on one side before, so that the other side is floating. Very refined.

I think it might be the engineer coming out in me Got to love a good cantilever. They are 100mm square hollow section so they ain't going anywhere.

Living in Sydney’s west, I do not get very good colour on my deciduous trees, and of the few that do, have only just started to colour now which is a little early given that we have not had any overnights below about 18 deg as yet.

we do have other the benefits tho of other trees that do give good autumn colour
I have 1 trident in the ground that has turned already but not much else.

All the colours you guys are getting are making me jealous. I'm relying on flowering plants to get colour, with bougainvillea, camellias, and azaleas. My crepe myrtle probably won't colour up until late June.

I'll see if I can find some Autumn colour in Tasmania when I visit next week!

When we have outstanding dry, sunny Autumn days and cold nights like we have had for most of this month, this tree and it's parent do the half red, half orange leaves that you can just start to see in the upper branches. Hopefully the whole tree will go half/half this year before all the leaves drop.

I've still got nothing!!!! 10 leaves on a big Chinese Elm have gone yellow and that's it. Trident,Japanese,Zelkova- nothing.
No such thing as global warming? Pigs!
9:25pm on the 30th of April and it's still 21 deg!

Hoping the rest of Aus will share their autumn colours with us too - as the abscission layer begins to 'throttle' into their areas.

Most of the bougy I have keep the leaves thru winter, but My largest one is deciduous

I think I have fertilised far too heavily into the season and may not get any colour on mine, seeing everyone's is making me regret that decision greatly haha.

I think you are looking at Chinese quince in that picture Kevin. Average fruits are around 15cm long but there's a big one on that tree this year around 20 cm long.
Chinese quince fruit has smooth skin and more flavour and aroma than the European quince. It makes really yummy quince paste and great quince jelly. Just starting to colour up and ripen this week. Maybe the parrots will leave me a couple?

Finally, ohh finally does it begin!
It's taken until 8-MAY-2016 to get just a tiny bit of real colour. Maybe it's time to get away from the city and into the hills.



Have a feeling most leaves will drop before the rest of the Trident goes this red. The lower/older leaves are slowly turning yellow but time will tell.

I was hoping to get some brighter shades but we copped some wind and rain which stripped the leaves that had started to colour. Next year.

Im getting some red on my maples too but only on the small new growth.
