Thanks daluke still trying to decide how to shape this bonsai, I'm still learning so I've made rule one not to do any pruning unless I'm certain of what I'm doing and where I'm going with it. I can't find any examples of this tree species in the sort of size and shape for inspiration.

Hi guys, little update, I've found a spot slightly shadier than they were previously in, which was full sun all day until 3pm ish, however after 2 weeks or so some leaves are starting to brown, I'm still watering based on soil dryness, could the lack of sun cause this? Thanks in advance

Was it bought from bunnings?
I bought my first juniper from bunnings and a lot of its branches got scorched and died.
I'm thinking it happened because at bunnings they aren't kept in full sun, they are under sails in the garden area.
I took out of full sun and slowly moved it into full sun over a month or so and it has recovered nicely.

Ah ok yea it is from Bunnings, but it's been in full sun for about 2 months, and not had any issues, I've moved it into a more shady spot about a week ago and now the leaves are browning, maybe it's just taken a week for burnt leaves to show? Thanks

It might just be some older foliage dying off.
Doesn't look as bad as mine did that's for sure.
Maybe a more experienced person could shed some light?

Haha don't worry, I'm the same

You have a lot of healthy new buds all over the top of the tree, which is what you want to see at this time of year. you will find the branches that aren't getting any sun don't have these new buds and they will eventually die off.
