hey petra, yea i dont think broom style is the done thing with juniper. but im not one to follow rules either. the only thing is i dont think it would look right, the need to get branching and everything to make the broom look right would be hard. it would end up being the topiary style "standard"

with the one in the plastic pot you should cut off all the lower left branches, cut off the right hand roots and scratch some of the cambium layer on the left side. This will help you tilt the tree to create that informal upright style

Ok all, here is the re-styled juniper to a windswept attempt. Not tottaly happy with it but I can't quiet put my finger on what is bugging me. Any opinions or suggestions. Just going to probably wait till next spring to repot as it was only repoted a few weeks back.

whats bugging you is that the branches are a little to straight and perfect. and they haven't filled out yet, but they will

agreed on that, you need to add some movement to make it work, i would band the branches down a bit then out ot create a more visually dynamic movement.
when this tree fills out it will look better, do you have any other angles of the tree? to see more of it will help alot
