If someone with more experience pipes in, do what they recommend. Don't cut back now, let it recover.

But I would definitely cut that first one back to that first left branch, the trunk looks great until then.

I kinda wanted a taller tree from that one. Select some branches amd.have them coming out horizontal and develop some mice foliage pads on them?

I thought it was fine - adequate taper, reasonable movement (for an azalea). What do you want?
You can keep cutting trees in training to achieve an unachievable goal or work with what is available.

Azaleas look great when in flower, does not matter much about the structure, just hide them from visitors the rest of the year.
