Ive got another 2 that I'm trying for actual bonsai. As i said, these are just fun little play things and not to be confused with bonsai. I could use them as accents if i really needed to, or just have them there. I dont spend much time at all doing anything for them. The one on the slab has been there for 3 years without a repot. Still powers on with lots of new growth, constant pruning, but never thickens due to lack of root run. I could put both of them in a pot for a few years but ive got enough stuff to manage as it is.

Grasshopper, you need to make Serissa your priorty!! Only then can life be in perfect balance. All other trees are secondary!!

They take too long to thicken up. And at the moment, none of my trees are getting the attention they need. Im just too busy. f they were good id try and sell some but i dont think half of them would go if i gave them away!

Ok, perhaps a little more time with 1 of them. . . . You made me feel bad.

Sorry mate, i did not intend to make you feel bad, ....I wanted you to feel guilty. Too busy does'nt cut it for me buster, the trees come first!!!! I fear you are straying toward the dark side of the force. Soon you'll be doing really freaky stuff like playing with orchids!!! If you are worried about thickness try using Serissa Serissoides. You are making my ears bleed!!!

Oooh, want some pics of the orchids? Ive got dendrobiums, oncidiums, phalanopsis, cymbidiums, dockrillia and a masdevalia. Ive also got a small collection of carnivorous plants! (Woah. Only after typing them all up did i realise the collection is increasing. Help me! I can feel the dark side!)

Well, my bonsai come before them anyway. But i have a lot of potted plants that need to go into the ground which i am currently landscaping. However, ill let you know hope is not lost, as i have also purchased some stock to be "temporary garden specimens" if you get what i mean

About the Swamp Cypress; how much sun is it getting (morning/afternoon) and what do you feed it?

It's getting heaps of sun. Morning to arvo. And I feed it with plain old Miracle Gro. Man, it's going nuts. It's even heaps bigger than in the last picture now.

hey pal ive been thinking about how long it is gonna take to get something of reasonable size, now im not sure if you are in a flat or house, but i remember tess saying that to get a swampy to the size that we both had our eye on, the $70 odd one. it needs to be in the ground for a few years and needs to reach a hight of approximately 2-3 metres. then chopped down and a new apex rebuilt.

to keep it formal upright there is a technique where you have a chosen front and the new leader you coose you basically carve out a cresent moon shape in behind it and this allows the new leader to be bent straighter up rather than having a kink in it

Yeah, I wish I coudl get it in the ground! I live in a large apartment with an outdoor area, and a garden adn stuff, but I don't know if I'll be here long enough to make it worthwhile being in the ground. It's gotten noticeably larger in the last few months. Much, much larger. And it's gettnig quite tall too =P

The swampie is much, much bigger now. Going to repot it when I get a second.
he serissa hasn't changed a great deal because i have neglected it a little, but i've started giving it more attention adn it's coming good again
