sounds good brett, i reckon i will be going out looking for something this weekend any ways. it does give me a reason to get a new tree :D

i do have something that might be workable as literati. its a juniperus chinesis, i think a sky rocket or something like that, the sun had gotten to the tag and deteriorated it. will get some pics any way and post tomorrow. its still in its plastic tub that i bought it in, just done a rough prune for now. very straight up and down, quite boring, but it would make a great literati, just need to figure out how to get those crucial bends and twists and turns into it :? :D

so this thread will be great :D

KC- i reckon too, maybe we will do it in this or maybe a new thread. up to brett, i dont want to hijack his thread as i feel i have done abit already  :D sorry brett!

everyone keeps posting as i am trying to submit and i have to add more!!!

simple rules it is :D

Something like old stock new stock and unlimited entries. Maybe we could have the entries anonymous but allow comments to keep learning through the process?
Don't worry Jamie you and ALL others are free to take this where ever you like it is a public forum :)
It's too bad your in such a hurry cause the stories I could tell you, Bushels and baskets of stories, hole crates full of stories. But if you can spare a moment I will tell you one story.

cool mate!

what do you mean by "old new stock" lol, you got me there. unlimited entries is a good idea, keeping it anonymous would be hard though as when we post it tells us who posted it
i think positive critisism throughout is good, i was thinking of it as an excersize more than a comp but im easy :D

Anonymous may allow free er discussion but then again maybe that is not a great idea :?:
New stock would be fresh styled stock and old stock would be previously styled trees.
Duno I will take it as it comes as long as we discuss literati :)

im sure we will talk literati mate :D for it to be on an even playing field it would have to be new unstyled stock if it is a competition. if it is an excersize then old stock thats had styling work but needs revamping would be fine i think.

and i think you might be right that anonymous might not be a great idea as free er discussion might also mean looser and people might not take it the right way. the one major rule would have to be constructive positive critisism i think.

lots to think about.

A literati in the making its had long term training and survived a hail storm which snapped the top off hence it is or was wired up to repair/heal the break .Extra large pot for encouraging root growth and sap flow to heal the break

nice alpine, i like the look of the second pic, obviously this is not your chosen front though as it is the short side of a rectangle pot :D i think even with the staighter sections branch and foliage placement seems to balance better. even though this is not an issue being literati.:D

what sort of pine is that mate?

edit- just read that page on literati breet. nice little bit of info there :D

My Yamadori wobble stick ,oops literati to be , no training as yet . Run over for years by those Toorak Tractors that come up and play .Collected 2 months ago it fairly old around 12 years at a guess Its a Pinus Nigra Lodgepole the roots were exposed and have died thus the twin main roots form the now lower part of a the trunk .The rootball would fit into your cupped palm only about 70mm x 30mm .Rules probably dont allow for this type of trunk line one would imagine , but i,m not into rules so Literati it will be

Hi Jamie after the storm i through it into a pot with no thought ,as it was in a round pale blue dish The 3rd branch and the top 1/3 of the tree was smashed off and reattached but the calousing is very pronounced ,but it healed anyway . Its an Atlas Cedar / Cedrus Atlantica ..Cheers

The judges might class it as an exposed root literati or some thing but anyway it is a very interesting piece :)
Thanks for showing these Alpine
