Re: Japanese apricot
I bought the plants in early August 2016, and they were just little wee things, but didn't take any photos then. I'll see if I can get back to his nursery when the ones he has in the ground are flowering. He seems to specialise in plants from Asia.

Is this nursery in Brisbane? I'd like some winter flowers, do you know the age when they flower?
Cheers,
Nigel

Re: Japanese apricot
Hi Nigel, you need to make an appointment to go into his nursery. It's more that he's a keen plantsman who sells, and he clearly wants to bring his favourite plants into his life here in Oz. His contact details are on gumtree, I think...or you can message him through ebay.
He's situated at Greenbank, just off Beaudesert Road.... and as for what age they flower, I have no idea, but apparently one of the photos on ebay is of one of his own trees. I do know he's got quite a few of them planted in his yard.

Re: Japanese apricot
New to forum; I picked up this flowering apricot from Bonsai South this weekend, saved it from Leong's 'to be potted' section. I was lucky as I've been looking for one for the last few yearsBonbon wrote:Ilithya wrote:Sir Bon, i did not take pictures. but the small one that he had cost around $300 something and the big one almost $1400 45yrs old he said.Bonbon wrote:Ilithya wrote:I went there this morning and he told me that he would not have japanese apricot this year. he only have 3 display this morning when i went there but i cant afford it.kez wrote:I imagine Leong will have some in very soon

Re: Japanese apricot
Ilithya,
if it was mine I would plant it leaning a lot more to the right with the bend going towards the middle of the pot. Because it is already to thick to wire in movement
planting it with a lean will give you that movement

Re: Japanese apricot
Prunus nigra should be strong enough to grow on its own roots so you could air layer at the place you have marked if you want. Question is: Why?
