Truly inspiring, Pup. If there wasn't a physical reference to the size, you wouldn't know just how small your trees are. Funny, as we get older, our trees seem to get smaller and our fingers and eyesight don't work as well as they used to. Wonderful trees, Pup, thanks for posting photos.

Secondly, I was wondering how you keep the mozzies at bay when you have two trays of stagnant water which would be the prefect breeding ground for them. Also, did the galv trays or did you source them from somewhere (if so, where would you recommend to find something similar?) Also at what stage do they go into a bonsai pot? Thanks for the inspiration

I spray the surface of the water with good old WD40, so the nymphs cannot breath when they come to the surface.

I put them into pots when the have sufficient roots to support the tree. When I am happy with the style, the competition in 2010 the tree that won the 12 months and under category was put in after about 4 months

The first gal trays I use were made by me, now retired from the trade. The replacement after 15 years were made by our club presidents husband. Try any sheet metal fabricators in your area. I am out of the loop on prices so I cannot give any Idea on cost. Which I think is about how much value you put into your Minis.

These are sensational! You have so many fantastic little trees, your collection is amazing! You have given me some great inspiration and ideas as I prefer shohin or smaller myself- but to make them look old despite their size I think is the key. Keep posting- I could never get bored of lookingat these little beauties!

G,day Luke all of my minis are from cuttings layers and collecting. The only seed I have been remotely connected with is what my Sons and Daughters boy friends grow.Under the system I have described here, on your post.

G,day Han I do that some times, by the grow on cut back, but mostly the cuttings I take have the thickness I want. I have also created some Shohin from Larger cut down trees, and even from Roots.
I have about 100 and I have cuttings coming along for more.
