Hello Jan, gosh your tree was wonderful. I am sorry you lost it. Mine has a little bit of rot again and i will have to take her out of the pot to seal it. It is only small, thank god. I made sure i had cleaned away most of the rot without losing the integral structure, i.e i left some parts that where a bit spongy.so the tree still looked like it had shape. i then wirebrushed the interior where i had carved out the spongy wood with a fine brush. I later learned a small scrubbing brush is better. I then lime sulphered the heart wood twice with neat lime sulpher. Then i made a mixture of tube wound sealant, the stuff you put over cuts after you have taken of a branch, and industrial non toxic P.V.A. glue and mixed them in equal parts together and applied it to the heart wood with a toothbrush. Lime sulpher over that and then repeat the process again. That was 5 years ago and i will do it again this year. I think it looks quite natural. I hope this helps you out.

Hi ya Bodhi I have just looked at this thread as with most wisteria's I have seen even our own its Ho Hum flower's.

How wrong was I. She is as you say a beautiful lady.
I can see how proud of her you are.

I have in the past with soft pithy wood after cleaning and getting to the solid wood.
Used Bondcrete, it is used in the building industry for the very same reason we are. It stops water in areas where we do not want it.
Its one negative it does dry on the shiny side. This can be over come with sanding though. If the soft wood is inside where it is less exsposed you can cover it with some acrilic black flat paint.

Thanks Bodhidharma and Pup, I'll keep your advice in mind for my next wisteria rescue and hope for a better result. Everyone I knows is aware of my wisteria addiction so I hope it won't be too long, they are all on the look out for me.

Thanks all for your encouraging comments. I took all her flowers of today and fed her.She is naked but she does not mind as the sun is shining today, right on cue. All is well in the world today.

They are my favourite plants of all time. People tell me I am mad and that I am growing them for 2 weeks a year. To them I say "POOH"! They are magnificent. This tree is breathtaking. It makes my 12 wisterias look dull dull dull. I continue my search for such a tree to collect. Good luck:)

Thanks Alanz, good on you for saying...PHOOH...There are to many people with to many opinions. Do what you love i say. and it is not true that it is only two weeks of the year. Wisteria can look respectable all year with a bit of work.

G'Day Dom, i will take this opportunity to welcome you to A.Bonsai. And thanks for bringing her up again. I think this year she will flower better than ever before. But there will be a major pruning and repot this year.

Hi Jan, long time no hear from? Well, with everything that old, she is slowly dieing and she fell apart last repot. On the bad side i have lost her but on the good side i have three very old Wisterias. I have potted her up separately and now i will wait until next year and let them all flower and post then. It was actually beneficial to break her up as all three trees are now powering along and producing new root systems like there is no tomorrow,

I've just been looking at your contentious cascade, bodhi, ..how are the others coming along?
