My brothers 1982 pine, he turned his back on it for a couple of seasons, hmm must not do that when refining, he gave me a free rein to tame it, so 2018 off with some of its head lol, then using some front stuff and a handy back branch to form the start of a new head and in 2019 all branching was brought down and in time will be broken up to chock it in.
The start....spring flush removed January 2018....cheers

One of the great things about this hobby are the social connections; I have made new friends through bonsai and indeed, this forum. The 'W' brothers must have some collection noting that you've got some lovely trees Anthony and so too - it seems - your brother!
It's pretty cool that you can enjoy bonsai with your brother too and that he trusts you to bring this beast back under control.
I feel fortunate to be able to enjoy Bonsai with my step-father ... so a family connection there too.

I think AusBonsai has found its new photographer-in-residence. You are just rubbing your skills in now Mel.

Thanks Mark, it's been nice to feel a little inspired again, after so long not having the headspace to even pick up a camera.
The lensbaby people have been asking for some pics, might have to break out those lenses next, lol!

Please accept this for the humour for which it is intended.
Some folk will know that my BBQ doubles as my Bonsai workbench. I am space restricted but not as much as some ... Ryceman3 comes to mind... working on a rooftop and basement! Some folk use their driveways for overflow!
Me, a courtyard. And hey, if this is about A Bonsai Life...my bonsai co-exist with my life. So move over little tree... I need to cook the family breakfast. Nice flower though.

And hey, you two that are temporarily inside (causing some debate in doing so!) ... you live off a different food ...keep your needles to yourself!

Forgive the phone photos and indeed, the last one is blurred.
I was pretty eager to eat breakfast while it was warm and drink orange juice while it was fresh.
My family think I am ridiculous. Probably true.

I'll take some solace... I reckon my young Japanese maple forest exists in a pot of the same design as that main group of trees in your photo ... suffice to say that your trees do the pot a greater service than my little forest!

Thanks for the kind words.
The trees in focus is a setting of 3 Casuarina cunninghamiana and is due to be wired as the wheather warms up.
As you can see I spend a lot of time in my backyard working on my collection and love it.
