thanks mate

and i agree it is something different hey, so remember to all those that carve, try and protect what ya can, soil and foliage alike, also on some trees the lenticels can be found on the bark of the trunk and branches.
and yep i reckon it will pull through with some good after care and some carefull watching

Sydney had a huge dust storm a little while ago. Nothing died. And the dust was iron based and a LOT finer that sawdust. I tend to think that there is another problem.
P.S. Lenticels are on the stems, roots and fruit. Stomata are on the leaves.

yea, i was using the word i could remember of what i read, lenticels.
and i am sure you didnt leave your trees covered in dust, you washed them of as soon as possible yes?
the wood dust that has been on my tree has been there for a couple of weeks now, so maybe you are right that there is something else wrong, but now a process of elimination has started also, all the leaves are gone, so if they come back strong and solid then i would have to presume it to be the dust, if they come back weaker and not so well or showing signs of stress, then i will have to work out why.
there are buds on the tree that are swelling, and the way this one has grown over the last few years i would have to say that if there is a deeper problem then it will tell me, one way or another, and if not it will come back solid as very soon
