Love the movement in this Banksia

I love Banksia. This one is sentimental to me as it was the first real attempt I made with Banksia.

I realize its not quite yet 01.01.2023, but its easier to post that its 2023, so looking back people can easily distinguish that its a year apart. Its only 1 day before the actual date.

Placed into a Marie Hewartson pot. (Australia)

Nice tree/pot combo there.

I have moved this Banksia into this Sara Rayner pot for two reasons:
1. I love the green colours
2. Its more shallow and allows the Banksia to stay drier longer.

Basically, the deeper pot was keeping the roots wet a little longer than I liked.
It is really amazing how long a Banksia can go on a dry mix and be happy.

It has been cut back a fair bit and will probably stay in this for life now.
I love the colours of this pot with the shades of green and darker shades.

I prefer marginata now above all other Banksia. I got rid of oblongifolia just because I'm trying to reduce the number of bonsai I have, and other species just weren't as hardy or it was too hard to reduce their leaf size. With integrifolia, I dislike the length of their leaves and the constant cutting back I have to do with this species... but it is rewarding and I like the structure of this one. Its just easier with marginata, as its more of a set-and-forget Banksia and so much easier to maintain.
