You wont believe what I found on Saturday arvo...... Another BIG clero, bigger base than this one and a little shorter.

Will be up on the 28th mate will catch up soon.

Great minds think a like! Mate I think it would be better for all of us if you keep an eye on the road , instead of peoples yards. This would give others a chance to get some decent trees. I look forward to catching up.

Here are some progress shots of the big clero's.

I've given the big one several hair cuts and a light carving but its still got a long way to go

Here is the smaller one...
Needs a lot of carving on the left hand side, there is a hollow section almost to the base on the left between the split in the truck which i'll open up.

I want to create more movement in the trunk line, the end product should be a driftwood style literati

you probably already know but i have found with these suckers to wire early, it can get frustrating that you put wire on in an afternoon and then two days later you have to replace it as it has extended two or three inches. thats what i found any ways this is going to be a ripper mate keen as to see a showable tree

as for the little one thats looking great too, thats the other thing that gets me with thicker trees is how much wire needs to be wrapped around the trunk just to get a good anchor and then how it looks after, at least it is just temporary thats gonna be a ripper with the carving

looks like they r coming along nicely mate! was just looking at the last picture and just imagined one hell of a windswept tree! i know its a hard style to pull off but the movement in that trunk just screams windswept to me!?

lookin good shan, i still cant beleive the size of this one, when i was there on the weekend i realised it is as tall as i am!!! i know thats not hard and a shohin could probably be close to but ahwell

i had a look at rods sketch again i beleive thats the way to go with this one mate, i had a think on what we were talking about using the other side for the front and i reckon this front is better

I would reduce the height down to the line of the fence in the background and then carve it to reduce the Weight of the top like Rods sketch. I like that vision, but feel the foliage should be more ( infront of the tree) than hiding behind as it looks in the sketch.

It need tonnes more work and have only now finally selected the front.
Rod design is great and close to what I have in mind, I'm thinking of having the foliage a bit more centered but still more pronounced on the left.
In the mean time I need to get the size of the branch structure bigger and will be growing plenty of sacrifice branches and need some more well placed shoots, nebari is also a concern and will approach graft some more radial roots on.
Height is definitely an issue with the finished tree and it will have a jinn apex, I need to break out the carving tools soon!!
