Great, look forward to seeing you. With luck the mild weather we've been having should continue.

Gday everyone,
Thought I'd post some pictures for those that can't attend from the 2020 Australian Plants as Bonsai exhibition.
I attended Saturdays Symposium and the penjing workshop. It was a fantastic day and really enjoyed learning about penjing then how we could use these skills on Australian material. My workshop tree was a callistemon and I think it'll look fantastic in a few more years as styled in a penjing form.
The exhibition was also fantastic with some amazing trees on display. They had 50 trees on display which was awesome. I didn't get too many photos of the trees mainly the ones that caught my attention. My top 3 trees are the Snowman Kunzea, Acacia howittii and GavinG gum tree (pitty I didn't get a better photo of it).
Enjoy!

Yep that 'snowman' is a gorgeous little tree. Definitely my favourite too.

Yes. That Snowman is very, very cool, pardon the pun.

I am not sure what it is but I like to third pic with the rock, mounded tree and deadwood. Lovely stuff.

Yeah its a lovely tree with the rock but what is interesting is it's the same species as the snowman.

Gavins speech was the best talk on styling Bonsai I’ve ever heard.
It was dry and witty, and made everyone laugh.
But what was so good about it, was when he explained how to actually make trees, rather than a predictable and reliable Bonsai.
And special mention to the ‘I edit trees’ comment.
He states he lets the tree do most of the work/style and then edits it afterwards.....
.... which is very humble and very profound in my opinion.
It’s a shame I didn’t get to view the other talks, but I did enjoy Allan Hardings penjing talk, even though penjing doesn’t do it for me..... i got to see how those oddities come about ... and their trees ... joking
But it was very cool to have the botanical gardens walk with Gavin and Allan talking us through it. Seeing a lot of those Lepto and Kunzea and Mels and Eucs being identified as large trees was so awesome!
You Canberra mob are all so nice to talk to, I had an awesome weekend and my helper (my son) said he absolutely loved Rogers speech for beginners. Roger.... if you have converted my son into Bonsai I’ll buy you a case of beer.

Hey PeterH as mentioned above as my top three. Pic 6, 8 and 17.
The exposed root prickly callistemon (Pic 9) also got me thinking about creating more exposed root callistemons in my collection.

We're very lucky to have such passionate advocates of Australian natives in the CBS. I don't want to name them for fear of leaving anybody out, but they've certainly made me very interested in what we have here.
