I'm excited Grant. I look forward to seeing what trees your showing and any juicy bonsai you have for sale this yearGrant Bowie wrote: ↑October 8th, 2020, 11:50 am Hi all,
I am packed and ready for the show, both display trees and Bonsai for sale plus
A range of Masakuni tools. Great tools from a great Japanese tool maker.
A small range of small painted Tosui pots. Lovely little pots for shohin bonsai or just display.
A large range of small Bigei pots. He seems to have come out of retirement and is making pots again. There are even some now 30cm in size plus their be Dragons!
A full range of Copper and Aluminium wire and more.
Cheers,
Grant

Re: Canberra Bonsai Society Annual Show 10-11 October 2020
For Show I have a Hawthorn in flower, quite big, that has been on loan to the NBPCA for the last 5 years; and a Pinus banksiana that I bent the heck out of and shaped and jinned about 7 years ago, and lots of small shimpaku and elms ands a Chinese quince.
For sale I have a hawthorn, same age and from the same Goulburn dig in 2007 as the show one above, a few Black pines from 1974 and a couple of Shimpaku and a thick trucked elm that was cut back many years ago.
One of the Pines is in an irreplaceable Japanese full cascade pot but it just doesn’t fit in anything else; so goodbye pot and plant.

Have a great weekend those of you who are free to travel to Canberra for this year's show
We're still stuck in the 'Border Bubble' and can only travel 50 km into NSW so can't get there this time. Shibui Bonsai has plenty of new pre bonsai from the grow beds but you will have to order online or wait for next year if you want some.

I forgot that you naughty children are all limited to 5km. Hoping for some relaxation in 10 days50 km thats like a holiday to some of us Neil

I have not done a new catalogue yet. The new tridents are just showing new roots at the drain holes but still don't have a full hold on the soil yet. Would be OK for a gentle trip to Canberra with personal handling but probably not yet ready to cope with the posties.
Elms take a bit longer to grow new roots and junipers and pines won't have decided whether they are OK until January.
More customers each year who know what they want are getting in early before the catalogues are published to reserve their choices until they are ready to ship.

A few photos of the show, with a repeat of Grant's Hawthorn - and a mighty tree it is!

Holy moly. I’ll take the Hawthorn, Swampy and the enormously creative black pine please. Just drop ‘em in the back of the car - I’ll leave the money on the fridge! Excellent stuff.

That swamp cypress was amazing. I resisted the temptation to buy any further trees but bought a beautiful crackled pot from samarkand pottery.
