I was out there Saturday for the dig and not that interested in olives so took the long trek down to the gorge to see what else I could find. The were plenty of Ash but most were unfortunately dead straight.

I did find this medium sized one jammed between some rocks to make the walk worthwhile. I am quite happy with it's bark, seems a bit darker and more durable than most Ash I find elsewhere.

Just realised I haven't got a pic that actually shows the tree off all that well. Its movement is fairly 2 dimensional but I have cut the base at an angle that seems to get some 3D movement out of it.

Matt S wrote: August 29th, 2021, 7:28 pm I left this one because of time and effort restraints, but I might go back and get it later. Any thoughts? The branch on the right is cool but the trunk starts off pretty straight.
Dig, and carve a smiley face into it.

These pics aren't great but help to show the tree a little better.
