Will a hollow trunk be better or worse than a dead wood trunk? I cannot see a hollow trunk changing the look of this tree from this viewing angle as there is no effective changes to trunk diameter.
Embrace the changes as nature takes its course.

Yes, from memory you made a bold design choice to stand the kunzea up - precariously on its slender trunk - it has a wild look about it that evokes something only nature could conspire to do.

I found this in a Canberra nursery last summer and it’s flowering at the moment . I am hoping it won’t be too temperamental to bonsai because the flower although small is beautiful.

This Kunzea parvifolia is just about in full flower now . There has been a lot of rain so the flowers are a little bit knocked around .

Looking fantastic Craig. Recently out the back of Nerriga ,the hills had a beautiful purple haze. Most of the trees were all pretty young and straight unfortunately. Yours has lovely shape and weight have to be happy with that. Cheers John ,any late snow ?

My natives are about to go nuts … the future of this tree is in Penjing …with a much sparser top and training that branch trailing down the left hand side and it becoming a feature … but for now, I will enjoy the show and the fluffy top.
