Just a quick question, is it OK to check my airlayer after 3 weeks to see if there is are any roots?

Highly unlikely there would be roots after 3 weeks but most newbies need to check.
Just be careful as you ease back the moss for a look. Small roots are very brittle so if you do see any white that looks like it could be roots just put it back without going any further.

Just having a look won't cause any problems with the process at this stage.

You're right, there are no roots at this stage. I was careful with the moss and also wanted to ensure it's still moist, I likely won't be touching it any more until I see roots through the wrap.

I noticed this week that I have a osakasuki maple with the same issue turning white only in one area , I thought it might be due to being planted in full sun earlier this year approx 2m tall will cover with shade cloth due to more 30 deg day in Melbourne. Will keep an eye on the white patch , hopefully I can add photos which I struggle with
