Thanks heaps Si, I really appreciate your efforts in making these sketches. I will sharpen my pencil and pull out my sketch book.
You are right Antonio, I have not touched my sketch book since the Robert Stevens workshop in November. I do not draw well but will never get better if I dont try.

Regards Gerard

Thanks for the kind comments Antonio! I really should draw more. I feel bad not contributing more here too. Last Year, PeterW had asked me to start a thread on how to sketch bonsai, and I had promised him that I will start soon. But I just haven't had the time. Maybe this will be the year.
Good day to you!
Cheers,
Si

Hi Gerard, yes, you ought to make hundreds of sketches for this tree. There's a lot of possibilities here. Start now. One quick suggestion: do not use pencil. I recommend any cheap, fast, fine point pen, such as a Sharpie permanent marker. Good luck!
Cheers,
Si

Here's another pretty good option I think. A bit too conventional maybe. At this angle, you would need to lean the tree up a little, just a little , to hide the long curve, and you would need to bring that top branch forward by a lot, so that the apex would point forward. I could do a side view later if this is not clear.
