Thats one of the best set-ups Ive seen in a long time, well done & I agree with Bundy, if you have plans I would love to see them .
As for the shad cloth 30% is fine to leave on all year round & the tree that need more light move them out in the winter. If you have any Figs in your collection, the shade cloth will help during the winter protecting them from frost burn, that is if you get frost where you live.

love the benches mate, great stuff. My absolute pet hate is people who have their trees propped up just anywhere I used to live just around the corner from you in Greensborough until the mountains whispered my name so I have a bit of an idea about your general climate. Try white 30-50% shadecloth in from November when the temps start hitting the 30s 'till late March when the temps settle back into the 20s. Full sun sthe rest of the time. Exceptions: a) Pines, Banksias in full sun year round. b) You should have a shaded place to keep trees that have just been repotted, or that have been sprayed with bug spray. c) shade cloth can be used to protect frost tender species during winter.

I live in Queensland and been growing all my tree's in full sun all year round for many years with no adverse results ....... The only time i would consider shade cloth is if temps were going to hit 40+ for a few days in a row, shade cloth only causes the tree's to search for light leading to lengthy growth habits and larger leaf size. If you are going to use shade cloth get the lightest one possible BMG1971.

If the tree species naturally grows in full sun then so should the bonsai....

Hi everyone

Another hot day in Victoria.

Here is a copy of my plans. They are probably a bit hard to follow, but I didn't have any problems as I knew what I was going on.
The hardest part is working out the cut outs on the legs. It took awhile to work that part out.
If anyone wants to try and build on themselves, I can try and talk you through it.
I'm no professional. I just like working with wood.
you will need a fair bit of wood and materials.
The wood alone cost me just on $350.00 after hunting around for a good price.

If anyone would like more info on this stand, just let me know.

As for shade cloth, I still don't know what I am going to do.

That looks really great. I have been looking to actually do something similar again though I have not found that much time and materials to do it with. But hopefully before this year ends, I can actually start and hopefully finish that project.

As for the shade cloth, it would be best if you allow yourself to remove them completely by the time of winter.
