Thanks Antt, it needs to thicken up the branches to keep in proportion with the trunk and develop ramification.
Loretta, it does have a story to tell. I thought it was something else when I first dug it up and almost thrown it away when I found out it a privet. It was also treated as a guinea pig when I decided to use it for practice with carving.
