i reckon grow box would be the way to go it will allow you to get the tree onto the drift wood much much better

Don’t know if you have done this but I seal the base of the timber with fiberglass resin. This reduces the rotting problem into the future.

Okay well up for criticism but here are the fruits of my labour well 2 days to be exact. Well not a full 2 days but its taken me 2 days anyway here is the pic. Let us know your thoughts on my first ever Phoenix graft. I will leave it for a while now before I wire and style the tree a little I had to take more roots of than i would have liked so I hope it will be fine.

Okay a little play and this I think is what I am going to go for, but hey things change.

When you create a pheonix graft it is nice to see live veins showing. It looks more realistic. JMHO cheers Pup

Okay after a rethink and yet another change in viewing angles, repotted and ready for more input. Now I just dont know where I am going to go with the styling. up for any virtuals or drawings, thats what ill be spending the rest of my morning doing.

From experience Archie, If you have that top branch between the wood it will grow and split the whole thing apart. Maybe the branches (lower ones) can also be grafted onto the stump to make it more compact and also it will hold together better. Keep at it this could be good

Yes, that is exactly what i mean. I think you will be better of in the long run with this configuration.

is this one growing in sphagnum moss?

No Jamie I just covered to surface with the moss to assist the new roots as they are quite close to the surface.

Hi Archie , your heading in the right direction . As Bodhi has stated incorporate the 2 branches into the live vien . As with trunks get a bit of movement and flow happening and it will end up a good trainer . Patience for now , tomorrow you might find a better front , next week it could be different again .I usually mount the plant then plant it away and let it do its own thing for 6-12 months then look and decide .Cheers Alpine
