Nice one Grant, I love the pot too !

Hi Everyone,

I put this tree up on another website and a few people commented on the branch as marked. What do you think?
If we remove it we could rotate slightly the whole bonsai. What do you think?

Hi Grant, it does interfere with the trunkline and its removal wouldn't really effect the design of the tree, so I would say chop.

I sat down to really have a look and there is another alternative as well.

The base flairs if the tree is rotated in the opposite direction(clockwise) and shows a bit more movement as well.
So how about chopping off the tertiary trunk at the left hand back and keep the branch?

Anybody with virting abilities help out here?

Can you move the branch so its movement is consistent with the others, also would need a bit more development in terms of twigs and thickness but overall I think its an improvement. Every step towards the simplification of a tree is a step in the right direction I reckon. Rather Like that integ I posted a while back as soon as I removed all those branches the tree started to shine.

I could bend it up then out; plus slightly thin out the righthand side to balance; plus thicken up the left ahd branch eventually.

personally i would remove the little one and not the bigger one, and work with the big one thats behind that little one. i think it works better in the style of the tree.

the little one isnt as necessary and what it will do is cause a uro on the trunk at the front whichever angle you set it in, its a lovely tree grant. i like it a lot

I went out to a Tuesday night workshop last night and finally started working on the tree. I will post it next week when I am finished but those of you who are coming to the AABC Convention will see what I have decided to do.

Hi all,

Here is what I decided to do to the Fig. With a very fine saw I cut a wedge at the top of the lowest branch on the left and lifted it up. At the same time I removed one of three branches at the back left as it clashed position wise with the newly raised branch.

I wasn't happy completely removing either the low left branch or the entire third trunk behind it as both options left too big a gap in this small tree.

I then completely wired and positioned everything and will eventually have 3 clouds of foliage. I will allow one of the multiple branches on the low right to become a more dominant secondary trunk over time.(One nearest the main trunk)

The style is now more tropical/fig/deciduous than Black pine.

I also removed some small branches at the front, recut one old wound and double sealed all the wounds. Hopefully it will heal over completely in one year in Canberra.

It is budding nicely but slowly after the defoliarion and will still be another two or three weeks coming into leaf I imagine.
