would a flood light be a good type of light to use?
thanks dumper.
Tripods for cameras are not so expensive. You can get a serviceable one for around $75 - quite sturdy and keep the camera from shaking when taking darker shots.

Hi all.
about the tripod. u can use a table or some other sort.
tripod will be easier cause height can be adjusted.
you can get cheap tripod. since we are all using point and shoot.. it is not that heavy
one more thing. set the camera to timer.
this will reduce blur photos.

also flood light. it will work.
might need to diffuse the light cause it is very strong.
a cheap way of making the light diffuse is using a box and baking paper or tracing paper.

Nice effort mate! Simple as!
Remember all, most point and shoots now have exposure length. So once set up on a tripod you can extend the length of exposure, which will give you different lighting effects to the shot. Experiment with short exposures and long.

Yup mitchell is correct.
the longer the exposure the longer time it take to snap.
so tripod is good and timer. or a remote.
so play around with the setting to. even with the white balance.
note. if you would play with the iso... try not to go up more than 400. stay below it.
reason being, the photo that is taken from point and shoot camera and even low end dslr camera will cause the image to be too grainy

hehe
here's a diagram on making a diffuse light box for flood light
you can use more than 1 layer for baking or tracing paper.
