I like it. Good branch placement and a lovely autumn colour.

Hey
quick question, how do you encourage ramification on Japanese maples? I've just purchased one myself and I've got a few nice leading branches id like to run with but I really want to encourage stronger growth and ramification of these branches.

Thanks
DK

Start your own thread, post photos of your tree and we all here will be happy to give you individualised advice along it's progression.

Hey Bodhi, I had not seen the updated pics

If you ever decide that it is going in the garden, give me a call first please!
Lovely outcome on a boring original tree

I mean using whip seedlings pushed through drilled holes

A little update on this tree as it has coloured VERY LATE for some reason. It has completely healed, retained its shape and is ramifying well. I know it is a pretty stock standard tree but it has helped me develop understanding and i love it for that reason.

Amazing colour Bodhidharma and you've achieved a much better tree from where it was 6 years ago.

I love seeing these threads that have been regularly updated over the years. Thanks for keeping us updated on the progress.

Regards,
Steven

Something to be proud of IMO Bodhi.
Beautiful colour and whilst not the most amazing of JM's it's got a great history and is a living example of some great technique.
Inspiring.

Happy to relieve you of said stock standard tree(s) whenever the mood takes you. ;)
