I sold the tree in question when I was space challenged at a previous property.
I do this type of grafting each repotting season though. There are a few posts detailing it on my blog.

A post titled "spring grafting" shows the before and after of a trident from this year. There should be a bunch more examples amongst the other blog posts too. I'd find the pics and copy them across but I'm on my phone which makes that process almost impossible.
