Hi Ken , it amazing , you plan a front carve it end up with 2 then 3 . I have to agree it does look a better front at this stage but it only the interim phase , i sure i could hack it some more .Cheers

O.k so i rearranged it and swapped pots , but i kept the original carving as the feature . A slight rotation and a tilt to the front , then added a bit of moss and a couple of rocks .No its not finished but i'll wait to see where the new shoots take it .Cheers

I really like the way this is going Alpine. What have you painted the inside of the carving with? It doesn't look like bitumen sealer - unless you've thinned it down somewhat.

Hi Tman , streri prune is the only sealer i have used .A new tin , i noticed that the sealer is thinner than the original tin i purchased many years ago "Budget cuts somewhere".I dab it on and brush it off , Opposite proceedure to a good painter .I have used it for the aged look on the outside rather than a sealer .I dont like fresh wood or bleached Blondes .Cheers Alpine

When you first posted this one I was wondering what had happened to your usual flair with carving. Now I can see it was just an intermission

I like your chosen front now that it has been turned slightly, shows off the fantastic carving and gives life to what was a very boring & unbonsai looking piece of wood.

Hi Matt , i collect the unusual material knowing one day the inspiration will come along , whether it be another member , mother nature or an idea i have had at the time of collecting needs applying . If i was to carve something like this in one hit i would no doubt stuff it up .Cant wait for the trunk to shoot off , a bit of greenery will do wonders .Cheers

Hi Steven , I really don't know what become of the tree , it simply disappeared several months ago . I went to Adelaide for a break with the wife and when we returned it was gone from the pot . Not the first time and i guess it won't be the last , if somebody wants something they will certainly find a way to take it .Cheers Alpine

Hi Guys , i've had some good trainers disappear several years ago and as i haven't identified them , they wont be easy to pass on .A very rare collect pine species in Aus will raise some eyebrows then i'll knock on their door . I think the pot and tree was a bit heavy for the light fingers .Can only keep the honest thief away Cheers Alpine
