Signs of Life

Just a little update. The Pom is developing nicely, even got some flowers developing that in time (if the local birds don't get to them ) will produce some fruit a few months down the track. I've included a couple of the tree and a close-up of the dead-wood with the main live vein flowing through it.
The tree itself is fairly old. How old I'm not sure, but I'd say it's in the 20-30 year range. As I've said earlier, it was in pretty poor condition when I got it and besides the leaf-curl (which is not as evident this year ) she seems to get better every year. A few years back it had over a dozen flowers on it and looked beautiful...then came the fruit ...even better still.
The "back" used to be the front, however I lost a pretty solid and well ramified branch set-up 2 years ago.There are a couple of shoots this year in that vicinity and I'll grow these out and use them to fill this void.
The Oak is coming along nicely too...except for the "bigger than life size" leaves. These have all but hardened off now, and I plan on defoliating and a light wiring on it sometime in the next few days....I'll post pics when I do.

As flowering has now finished, I'm nuturing the spent buds in hope of developing some fruit. In all I had 7 flowers, and due to the local birdlife am left with 4 left in tact).
The Oak however, has undergone a defoliation but seems to have produced large foliage once again!. The tree is far from being anywhere I invisage it, so, for now I'll just concentrate on developing branch structure and soldier on. It receives about 6 hours of direct, filtered (shadecloth 60%) a day and its watering has been cut down...go figure.
Any advice/criticism would be appreciated.
