Love the ratio on this one - should be a pearla!

No sketch, Salvatore said that he doesn't like sketching trees because it is extremely rare that trees actually end up like the trees in peoples sketches. But his idea was that the tree be turned 180 degrees from the view from which we are presently looking. If you see the large trunk which turns around the straight one, that would be the trunk in his eyes.

I like the Ratio too Leigh...Somewhere around 1:2.5 like a massive old spreading tree in a park or something.

I'll start working on Jin in the next year or two which should take the tree to a new level.

You might be interested to know that a well known bonsai aficionado is currently writing an article about this tree and you should see it right here on AusBonsai. I've read it and it raises some very interesting points on developing Urban Yamadori.

It's been a long time since the Sydney AABC conference, but here is my workshop tree as it stands today. It's been a slow road with this one and I've only this year made a solid decision on where I want to go with this tree. Very different to Salvatore's vision. I think that this is the tree that this tree wants to be.

I remember seeing this one at the demo's. The foliage has come along way and you have made it quite compact. Looking good.

It is definitely teaching me more and more every year. One problem is that it quite easily reverts to juvenile foliage and I still haven't worked out what the triggers are. The plan is to graft shimpaku onto it to make it more predictable and better looking. Will take a long time, but will be worth it in the long run.

How's this one looking 2 years on Webos? Did you end up grafting Shimpaku or leave it as is?

It's alive, tilted a little more to the right and being designed and growing as a semi cascade. dont have any photos at the moment but it's looking healthy and happy

Thanks for keeping us updated over the years mate, its a good learning process for us to see where you are taking this. I do remember that original workshop so a history is good fun.
