The lemon tree on the solo can either is a bonsai, or the lemons are bigger than footballs.

Yes, they did RC - what a load of garbage that was. Graham Ross (Bonzai) is as bad as Don Burke (Bonzoi). Why don't these goons do some research into what they are attempting to present before opening their mouths. Maybe someone should tell them that the word has an 'S' in it - not a 'Z'

What was it he said about watering? Something about making sure the pots don't dry out in the summer - and to help them, put a layer of gravel on the pots. So what did he do? He covered it with a thick layer of pure white pebbles. What that will do is reflect the hot sun directly up to the underside of the leaves and cause them to dry out and shrivel up.

He also had a go at repotting and pruning a Buxus. Did you see how he checked to see if the tree was still alive? He gouged a large piece of aged fissured bark out of the trunk - right back to the green tissue underneath, saying 'If it's green it's alive, if it's brown it's dead. He only had to look at the leaves to see if it was alive or not. If they're green it is, if they're brown it's dead!

Finally he had the cheek to put his very poorly pruned attempt alongside a really nice Buxus with good age and styling then said that in a year or two his pathetic attempt would look like that one. If that's the way this 'Television expert' treats trees, it won't happen in his lifetime.

There were some really nice trees shown at the beginning of the segment though, but none of them were his!

Yeah he pretty much butchered it, teased like 10% of the roots and as you said, covered it in reflecting rocks :/

Finally found a copy of 'bonsai in australia' last 3 bids i won on ebay said they had no stock, so i got it from bonsaishop.com.au :)

And by the way, my trident maple has new buds opening up down the trunk and about 5 shoots on the top :)
and also the cutting is growing, did a bottle brush air layer today, will see how goes.

Oh well, at least graham showed me the box, saw some at big w i think, pretty developed for $8, might head there and see what ones can be saved

In the movie Duplicity starting a pine bonsai. Burkitt & Randle CEO Howard Tully (played by Tom Wilkinson) trims a pine in his office. It gets several repeat cameos.
