I just wondered what is the latest with regard starting a Shohin Bonsai Association? I certainly would be interest in such an Association.

Latest is Nothing.
I could kick myself for not having thought to ask Pup if he could perhaps raise the subject and find out if there was any interest among participants at the AABC Seminar in Fremantle. Well, I guess that if people were really serious about a shohin association, they could always write aboout it here, the way you did, Trickie. Maybe I'm not all that serious myself.... just waiting for someone else to start the ball rolling. And who's got a good slope??

After my presentation in Fremantle I did ask who was going home to start the Miniature collections and there were quite a few hands raised. Also if the response I got from delegates after, is any thing to go by, there are a lot more people going to be growing them now.
So we might have a better chance, but the likely hood of me being a member is just an email away.

Hi Steven, Ladies and Gents,
well it's kind of like this: just over a month after I started this thread I took on a challenging and very time consuming job as an assistant production manager at of a 265 acre vegetable farm, where the plan is for me to replace the existing production manager of 30 years, who has been with the company since it began. Oh, and also have to help modernize the place and bring growing systems into the 21st century. I am also moving house, to a larger sunnier property with a lot of usable space, the move was supposed to have happened in February, then April, July and has been getting postponed on almost a weekly basis since then. Which has been very frustrating, not leaving me much time for bonsai pursuits over the last 11 months, but moving will allow me to grow plenty of little trees (maybe even some very good ones ) in the hopefully not too distant future and allow me to participate in this forum a lot more than I have recently.

And boy am I dying too throw myself head-first into bonsai again!

I haven't forgotten about the as yet non existent Shohin Bonsai Association of Down Under, nor am I any less convinced that it could be a great thing for Australian Bonsai, for all of the reasons mentioned earlier, and then some......

I seen some shohins today that were over 50 yrs old
Amazing trees lots of character and amazing style.
Would love to see this club get off the ground .
