Going to be lovely to see this over the years and I whole heartedly agree. every one should photograph every tree every year no matter how good or bad they are.
a photo is an amazing way to critique your own trees and you can geta great idea on what to do in the future from the past pictures

I was just reviewing the fertilising suggestions for English elm. You say earlier in the thread that you are starting daily feeding as Walter does.
I have never heard of this daily feeding from Walter and wonder if you remember where he talks about this as I would love to review what he has to say. Last I read he was fertilising about every 10 days at about three times the strength.
How did the feeding every day go for you. What dilution do you use with the ProFert?

I personally feed my trees every ten day to two weeks. The reason is that this takes me two hours and is hard work. I have to schlepp about 50 big water cans. Othrwise I water with the strong garden hose in 30 minutes and often don't have to water because it rains.
If you don't have 1,000 trees you can and even should feed daily with every watering. You will have to find out the dosis yourslef. I can only tell you it is MUCH higher than you think.

Thanks for the info Walter as i had thought somewhere i read you liquid fertilise every time you water? I will be doing this next Spring with all my progressive trees (not the growing on ones) but trunk established ones and see how that affects growth for ramification. The tanks are set up and it will just be the same as watering my Bonsai with a hose. This will also make it easier for me as it takes a long time to feed my trees via laying pellets on the surface. Will keep everyone posted on progress.

Just wondering Walter, if you are referring to Elms or to a wide variety of species when talking of watering daily? No matter how much I feed them, my English elms always seem to look undernourished and dont put out the amount of growth that i see in some other Bonsai people with their elms.

Are you repotting every year Webos. If you dont then they radically slow down their growth rate. They also start to lose their vigor and look poorly.
