Thanks for all the advice guys. I did a scratch test on the branches and trunk of the Japanese Maple... all brown on the branches, and a dark green-ish browny colour on the trunk. I'm hopeful! Going to keep up the watering routine and maybe some fertilising and keep my fingers crossed.
