gday ausbonsaiers!

I have been thinking about making some carving tools like the ones used in creating shari and jin like the si dao sets that can be bought (but are rather pricey).

I will get the motivation soon and get a set made up to see how they go :D the good thing is to make these sort of tools arent labour intensive. will do step by step procedures!

While searching the forums I found another ripper homemade bonsai accessory, Alan Pecks bonsai wire dispenser.

You can view his detailed pictorial instructions HERE.

[quote="mashby"]Hi all

I was subsequently given potting tools from an old gentleman who said he used to grow bonsai about 30 years ago. I'm not sure if he made them or not, but they add some interest when I look at all my new correct" bought bonsai tools!

I'm not sure if I should try and clean them all up or to just preserve them as they are.

I bought these of ebay recently. Very study little tools, and very handy :tu: Only prob was it took a couple of weeks to arrive from Thailand. but well worth the wait :) http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/180681325748 ... 1439.l2649

Nice work Dragon :tu:

And good on you for kick starting this thread again. I love how your lazy susan fits under the lid, and how you made the wire come out of the front of the tool box.

What kinda spools are they you used?

i made the spools out of 2.5inch dowel with a 12mm dowel going through the middle of the larger dowel
then i cut 124 mm round sides and attached them to the dowel thanks for comment

I saw a "shovel" on another site a couple of weeks a go used for diiging trees. I thought I'll have to get one of those. Well went to visit mum and dad in Echuca and went to the Moama market and found this.

It is a bit smaller than I would like but will do for now and will look at making a bigger version later. It had a wooden handle that wouldn't last long with a bit of pressure on it so out came the wooden handle and in went the solid steel crow bar.

Once I have dug around the tree I will use this to cut under it and lever out.
Now I just have to go find some trees :whistle:

Josh
Ps. Any one else got some tools they use for digging????
