very nice work indeed! this is a corker little tree, and will develop well under your hands I am sure. really like the movement and think in time when it fills out more you wont have to do to much compression.
look forward to seeing the top worked.

Thanks all for the positive comments. Looking forward to the develpoment of the foliage
Watto. Looks a bit small under all the root, but it will eventually suit it well.
Daiviet. I am certainly looking forward to the second installment and working on the layer.
Jamie. Just want to drop the apex a little
Steven. Only ever slow release osmocote in the soil and liquid with Charlie Carp. That one hasn't had much but has thrived since the layer was removed.
Cheers
Tony

Hey Tony
I really appreciate the clear pointers along the way to the pics, just like you're talking to me while your doing all the work. I also really like the layering and i wish i had a Monday working on a little beauty like these.
Looking forward to the next installment!

Won't be long Stewart. The layer is doing fantastic. I wanted to enter it in the Shohin comp but the old top had some work done years ago.
Thanks
Tony

Since all the updates have been about the stock of the layer, I thought I would show you the layer again. It is starting to grow very well and has greened up heaps since potting it.

The tree is going so well I will be able to start removing the long straggly branches in a couple of months. The shoots close to the trunk will power on then. Possibility of taking the apex off and compacting the tree further.

Its been a couple of months and the growth has been good and strong.

Happy with the small shoots and the stage of growth, so it is time to remove the long growth that was left on to keep good sap flow in the tree after seperation.

Time to let it rest and grow free again for a couple or so before anything else will be done.
Lovin this tree.
