Maybe the lack of taper wouldnt be such a problem if the tree wasnt as lanky???? Maybe bringing the trunk down and closer to the rock might eliminate the need to chop the trunk.

Black lines represent Hemp, twine or raffia. Anchor to the pot and the rock, then to the trunks at each spot and gradually bring them in closer and compact...just a thought.

Now, you're probably not gonna like this, but there looks like there is a branch where I've circled in red. If you really wanted to, you could take it back to there and greatly improve taper. That's just IMO, though. Thoughts???

Hi Steven, this is one of the variations on the root over rock semi-cascade theme I was trying to explain...hope you don't mind me posting it? Anyway, I look forward to what you do to it in the Spring.

Mr Velvet, I appreciate your idea but I don't think even compression will hide the lack of taper.
