Re: Economic Stimulus? PEPPERCORN TREE AUCTION!!!
As I was considering moving to SA at one stage I looked right into this a couple of years ago and found that it was not dificult to bring trees into SA. There is a list on the internet some where that lists trees that are or are not to be brought in the only one I remember that was not aloud that was in my collection was hackberry. I also called around and was told by some official that it was fine as long as the trees were in a comercial potting mix. The meaning here is no original soil if the tree was collected. I was told to declare at the border and explain that there was no native soil and all would be fine.
I have lost any links or contact names or numbers. Hopefully the info is still on the internet somewhere.

It's too bad your in such a hurry cause the stories I could tell you, Bushels and baskets of stories, hole crates full of stories. But if you can spare a moment I will tell you one story.

I bring in tree's from NSW a few times a year with no problem. Just no soil....
Young and hostile but not stupid.

Gday Ketut!ketutg wrote: I went through all the rules and regulations but am a little confused... Has anyone ever sent or imported a peppercorn tree into SA?
There was nothing about Schinus molle in the link I gave. As such, I am treating it as Plants, general (including household plants and potted plants), and I believe it meets the following condition:
This would appear to support the observations of Mr Asus and Mr Soltan.Condition 19 - Rooted Plants (excluding grapevines)
...
(2) is transported in a soil free medium (Commercial Grade Potting Mix).
So, the Current High Bid still stands at a paltry $86AUD!!!

Thanks for info guys. Looks like elias is giving me a run for my money though. i'm sure there are other bidders out there waiting till the last minute so that they wont inflate the price.
By the way, has anyone received the stimulus money yet? I know of some people that have but i have not received mine yet.
It can come anytime within the next 5 weeks apparently!
ps - i bid $91.

Hi FliBri and bidders. Cool looking bonsai. I'd love to work on it but I'm in Brisbane and it would cost too much to get it here
.
Great idea with the auction too. I hope there is more of them (from up my way).

Gday Ketut!
Sorry I can't provide anything more substantial at the moment, but here's a pic of the tree as it was in January 2008.
Where are we at now?
$91AUD? That's outrageous!!!
Not many days to go...
