Have decided to adjust design when i transplant into a bonsai pot by shortening the hanging branch to the left. The trunk is realy good an feel the branch draws your eye away from it done a quick virt to show what im thinking ;)

Much better design I think ! :)

By the way, when do you find the best time to carve olives is? My guess was when it was quite warm as they are of Mediterranean origin?

In my humble opinion, I would direct the left side branches a bit more downwards, since it is a slanting style...after removing those branches...And grow them much longer on the left.

Like a pine? Why? I thought the aim of the game is to mimic nature?

Most olives put out branches on a upward angle or at best horizontally.

All it needs is refinement and ramification, and in no time its going to be one of the better olive bonsai in australia.

Did a big thinning out on this tree with some minor adjustments to branches its looking great now from here clip an grow an this time next yr ill defoliate to thin again as olives can get very dense quickly. Ive got a old one that was so dense you couldnt see sunlight threw it    also had scale that i never noticed so plan to thin the olives more oftern an defoliate every 2nd year from now ;)

As for the virt of cutting the branch shorter ive changed my mind

Fantastic mate, what do you have in mind as far as pots go?

Med depth unglazed drum would contrast the deadwood and foliage nicely.
