G'day,

Last night I gave this one its annual trim and repotted it into a smaller pot by Pat Kennedy. What do you think of the new pot?
I've still got some more work to go on the apex as I'm not happy with it yet.

I do like a tree with a story to tell and this is no exception. You have done really well to retain that style as in Mr Naka's vision.

That is a lovely pot you have it in now, but for me it does not go with it at all. To be fair, at the moment it seems to go well with the colour of the trunk, but if you were ever to show the tree, once you have cleaned the trunk up to expose the lovely brown trunk, I do feel that will clash with the pot whereas if it were in a brown unglazed rimless pot, they would compliment each other more, But pots are always down to a personal taste.

The tree is very graceful now, well-balanced and placed. The pads are varied, but they all harmonise, to me. I like the pot with it, and I'm not sure about scrubbing the trunk for display - it may lose the feeling of age. My only quibbles (and they are minor) is to ask whether the apex is a little too solid to balance with the rest of the foliage, and whether the curling jinn should be visually separated just a little from the lowest left branch - that's probably just an artefact of the photo anyway.

Hi Steven. It's really maturing into a nice tree. One small tweak I would consider is closing the space between the apex and the branches below. Currently the apex is sitting a little separate to the rest of the foliage. That said its a small point in an otherwise great looking tree.
