Gerard,Thank you for taking this pictorial record of Hiro's visit. It has been a fantastic nine days of bonsai with so many great trees and friends all together , not to mention the food, thanks S and P. The only disappointment was the lack of attendance of so many people from Melbourne clubs.
Why ? Why? Why?
PLease let me know.

Buzza, we fully agree with you on all accounts!!! But there’s only that much one can do and we’re sure a lot of them don’t realize what they’ve missed out on. :lost:
We enjoyed every bid of it … including S and P’s treats! :tu:
Cheers and thanks again, R&M

buzza,
Excellent question indeed!!! As the Melbourne host club of the AABC Convention this year with Boon as the international demonstrator, I was also dumbfounded why their weren't more Victorians there. I would love to know the answer to that one as well. Are people just time poor these days or is money an issue?

Thanks again for taking these photos Gerard, and recording what was an awesome week or two.

I hope everyone that attended got as much as i did out of the workshops, critiques and demos. The only person I know who isn't thrilled is my wife as I have not stopped talking about Hiro and what I learnt.

Well done and thanks to all involved.

This was the first time that I had been able to attend Hiro's workshops, critique and demonstration.
While dabbling in the art form for a few years and having some fantastic teachers along my journey (so far), Hiro's visit gave me a new insight as to how to understanding styling.
I've already questioned some of the work that I have done on my trees in the past and "Think" that they all can be improved now.

The stand out for me was Friday nights critique on some already beautiful and old trees.
These trees are beautiful when they came through the door, but Hiro gave you an understanding of how much better they could be if you did this or moved that.
I learnt a lot and will not miss this event next time!

Thanks to all at BSV for your planning of the events, for being welcoming and supportive of myself through guidance and discussion with my trees.
Thanks to Hiro for a fantastic week of learning.
I'm already looking forward to the next visit.

Thanks to Gerard for all the pics :tu2:
I only made it to the demo and one workshop as an observer, I planned to get to the advanced critique but I was unwell.
For me it was an amazing experience as it was the first ever demo or workshop I have attended...an AB member said something like "that's a lot for future demos and workshops to live up to being that your first ones were with Hiro". ;) :D
I only wish I went to more :palm:
I will be sure to attend as many as possible when Hiro returns and I can't wait! I should have a tree to take along by then too
I just want to say thanks to BSV for organising it :tu:
I really enjoyed meeting all the very welcoming and friendly people (as well as putting a few AB names to faces)...so thanks to all of you and all of the work done behind the scenes to make it all possible
Hiro was great too! Aside from bonsai which you all know about, I found him to be a very funny, humble, friendly and approachable man from the limited interaction I had with him. I was also amazed by his drawings as he nailed them all first time...what an all round artist :tu2:
Cheers, Dario.

Gerard, thanks alot for sharing with us a most interesting and rewarding 9 days of bonsai. I see some really nice trees with great potential to grow into world class bonsai if (and this is a big if) the owners follow up with TLC to realise their full potential. The crowds could have and should have been bigger but who cares so long as those who turned up have an enjoyable and enriching experience.
Cheers,

CJ

The only time I wish I lived in Melbourne, :palm: this man is a great teacher and entertainer. I am green with envy. To those that went and enjoyed well done, to those that did not :tounge:  :shake: if you are serious about Bonsai, ( and not a tea cup I do bonsai with the little pinkie poking out person).

This is the type of experience, that should not be missed if you live within COOOEEE of the event. There were week day and evening/ weekend events, so all would have been catered for.
I also note disappointment in some members posts, so like me they do see the value.
That is why they work their butts of, so they can promote the art to those that say we do not have access to Good Teachers, you have just seen one of the Best if you live in Melbourne.
Congratulations to all involved in this project.
:hooray:
Cheers Pup
