Well Today was " the Dig Day"
I invited a few members from Ausbonsai and The School of Bonsai to come along and help me clear out the garden.
Only 4 could make it due to other commitments but those that Joined me went home with some great trees that hopefully will recover and one day make excellent Bonsai

I have only just got home so will post some more photos later but here are a few teasers.

They look fairly bare-rooted - what will you pot them in? Usual bunch of rocks? Will you spray the branches at all? Shade? Enya at low volumes?

The folks were home, nice to have lunch made for me and catch up with them. Dad did a good job of his pruning, might make a gardener out of him one day A bonus was finding out they had 4 more blocks of clay for me

Hi Josh. these came out with a Mattock and a shovel only. ( Well 2 had the help of a car as well ).
Use a mattock to dig a trench around the root ball to cut all the surface roots then undercut it with Mattoc and shovel. out they popped

@Gavin, Yep potted up into Diatomite / Zeolite, with abotu 10% of Rays mix thrown in. Hard do see im photos. but lots of fine roots on them so I expect good survival.

Watering 2 times daily with sprayers, and most will be in Full sun except for the 4 with only a few roots

@ Velvet, the guy with the rangie, collects lots of large Azaleas. but has never used the car yet. I think I showed him a new trick
