Re: AusBonsai Community Market Day - 8th March 2014
I would hesitate a guess that if you see a tree you like and pay for it, the table owner should be happy to put it to one side-so long as they are not waiting for you so they can pack up and go home! Communicate this to the seller and I'm sure they'll be willing to help. Bear in mind they may want to have a hunt around themselves.
A trolley is probably a good idea to get it all back to the car in one go!
-For tools-look for sharp edges or edges without spurs, no rust/easy opening jaws. Also know your prices before you go.
-bring cash-cash is king
-get there EARLY to get the best choice otherwise you may walk past a table that has nothing but sold signs.

I for one will be happy to hold onto trees etc that have been sold so as to help customers. I have a van in which I will transport my trees.
I will be bringing and selling Japanese annealed Copper Wire on the day, as well as some worked nursery stock, a few pots excess to requirements (one huge) and "finished" bonsai which I will put up on the Ausbonsai site over the next week as I prepare them.
Cash will be the only method of payment.

G'day,
There is just under 2 weeks to go until the market day and we now have 17 stall holders confirmed.
One of the stall holders is renting a small flat bed truck to bring his trees down. He tells me that he has been growing for a long time and his trees are all large! We've agreed that rather than man handling them we will probably set him up outside the covered sales area and you can buy directly from the back of the truck
Regards,
Steven

10 days to go.
I've just found out that one of the stall holders is an 80 + year old bonsai veteran who is looking to downsize his collection including numerous old Koreshoff trees. This will be a great opportunity to pick up what is potentially some of Australia's oldest bonsai!

G'day Phantom,
The Market Day is open to all. Stall holders need to book but shoppers can just turn up.
Are you thinking of coming up for the day?
Regards,
Steven

Re: AusBonsai Community Market Day - 8th March 2014
Shaping up to be a great event Steven. I'm up visiting my 93 y.o. Grandmother that weekend, hopefully (if public transport permits) I can sneak off Sat morning and get my Sydney bonsai fix. If not have a great day everyone

Cheers, Ryan

Re: AusBonsai Community Market Day - 8th March 2014
G'day Ryan,
The venue is about 15 minutes walk from Auburn station.
Hope to see you there mate!
One of our stall holders will be bringing a load of large bonsai pots to sell. These pots were imported several years ago and were found sitting in a paddock still in the shipping crate. I believe that the prices will be pretty reasonable too
Only 1 week to go.
Regards,
Steven

You must be a fit young man Steven and I hope you are too Ryan....a 15 minute hard run would be more like itSteven wrote:The venue is about 15 minutes walk from Auburn station. Hope to see you there mate!

Having grown up not far from the Market Day location I wouldn't encourage any of our older Ausbonsaists to walk. (Unless you like a long walk)
It's a good hour from Auburn, Berala or Granville Stations.
Both Granville and Auburn Station have buses that pass nearby.
Can't wait, looking forward for a few nice pots myself.

Looking forward to coming up to the Market Day, I will have Eftpos facilities on the day if that helps anyone , until the batteries run out.
A big thank you to everyone involved with the organisation on the day. I am happy to help out with transport etc if I can manage as I have a van to get things around in.
Anything in particular people would like, let me know. I am packing the trailer and van on Thursday.
A few bonsai I was thinking of bringing up on the day
All of these trees will be heavily discounted.
Chat soon
