At last.
Gave up on the idea of trying to graft the two trunks and took RayM advice where to cut. Might take a bit to recover I would say. But a fig being a fig they survive everything hopefully.

Are you sure its not just sulking? Sometimes they take a little longer to bud back after such a drastic trim

I put it in a colander. Put it in there about a month ago. The bark has started to come away from the trunk at the root line.
I believe its gone to Fiscus heaven.

Haven't thrown it out.
The only thing I could think is a good soak in Seasol appears to cure all.
I have fertilised it in the last month.

Any other suggestions.
