cool boomy please do!

yesterday i went again to suss out my next collection. this is the one i will go down in a harness and ropes to collect. 25 - 30 ft, 160 deg. drop. when i get close up and personal with this tree i will then decide if it is collectable. this is a very old tree by aussie standards

dude, this looks awsome, how did you find it, & how did you get this close if you need ropes & harness to get to it. you're going to have a pretty impressive collection of yamadori @ this rate. although the way the DSE is chopping out this stuff & poisoning, there won't be much around anymore. a lot of the potential housing estate developments are sources for material, you need to talk with property developers &see if they are favourable to being approached. i've been able to get a few good trees from one of our local developments. great stuff ant, keep it up but you're gettin me jealous. cheers, dave.

zoom makes it all look so easy. thanks dave you inspire me to collect. i thought you might like this one.( shown ya nothing yet )i was led here by destiny. funny how things go. maybe we can trade something somewhere in the near future. yeah bretts i'm having the time of my bonsai life at the moment. let us hope by summer all is well and it was worth it.

i have been keeping track and learning from this thread. i collected 2 radiata a couple of years ago and both died. Have now been inspired to try again. I would love to know if they survive ant.

Has anyone read the article i posted here?

I basically says that they have had very little success in California collecting radiatas with Mature bark, and rather look for trees that are just beginning to form mature bark instead.

Has anyone collected a tree with mature bark and had it survive? Or has anyone had similar experiences to the article?

That looks great Ant. Seems to be a nice gentle bit of movement in her too!.
This spot of yours...wouldn't be down around the same area where you scored the Hawthorns..would it!!
