Fantastic display and colours...
I'm besotted with Satsuki, especially come flowering time. Cant wait to get to them every morning to see what has opened. With some of them you don't know what to expect, until it opens. One thing I have learnt is, they need to be kept moist. Dryish spells through the year will have a consequence come flowering time. All three my Beni Botans had dry flowers this year. Seems they are very sensitive to "dry" spells. I thought I kept them "moist" but obviously was mistaken. Seems even one or two dry spells has an affect later...
I now put a layer of sphagnum on top of every pot (not bonsai pots yet) and pack some small stones on top of the moss to keep the moisture in. Got them in bonsai medium with lots of chopped sphagnum mixed in. Keep them PROPERLY moist now...
